About The Gabby Krause Foundation blog. Gabby Krause was an amazing six year old who died on September 28, 2004 after a courageous 19 month battle with brain cancer. Gabby loved purple, swimming, and coke-flavored slurpees. She sang, danced, and laughed her way through chemo. She found the silly in everything! It is in her memory that the Gabby Krause Foundation was started, and in her spirit that, 'Bags of Fun' began. The Foundation's goal is to continue her legacy of smiles, zest for life, and the “Grip it & Rip it” attitude that she exemplified while facing life's toughest challenge.
The mission of the Gabby Krause Foundation is to make a difference in the lives of children and their families who are faced with fighting cancer and other long term childhood illnesses.
The Gabby Krause Foundation blog has been started as a celebratory voice to encourage participation and to keep you informed of the great joy your efforts bring to these kids. We’ll share stories of how this foundation is progressing, we’ll post pictures, we’ll let you know of upcoming events and provide links to our wonderful sponsors. We’ll also ask you to post your comments on her blog – we’re always looking for participation and feedback.

I just wanted to express my sincere thanks for bringing smiles and laughter to the hemodialysis patients of TCH yesterday, 10/4/06. I am so glad that you were also able to meet most of the patients on the morning shift as well. You touched the hearts of our parents and staff as well. In the midst of their dialysis requirements 3 days per week, the name of the game is "distraction". Gabbys Bags will provide HOURS of distraction. And we thank you!
Now, I wish you could have seen the afternoon group of patients. They were an absolute hoot! Little J. is 4, and shook with delight. His backpack is about as big as he is! We have a picture of him with the spikey rubber wig. The nurses really had a good time as well! We have pictures of a few nurses with the spikey rubber wig. The rest of the patients are teenage girls. Now.......................one of our nurses, Barb, was attempting to stuff J's potty putty back into the container. Of
course, this made an obscene noise, which all the girls accused Barb of. Barb denied making the noise. Then all the girls pulled out their putty and it got VERY noisy. (Remember Tammy, when I told you that the dialysis unit sometimes sounds like a sports bar!) Everyone howled with laughter! Thank you for your gifts of love and laughter !
Sincerely,
Terri Bisio
